COMPANION CLASSES
For most puppies 2 to 5 months old (Toy breeds may be as old as 9 months. Large and guarding breeds must be no more than 4 months)
Socialization, basic manners and confidence games. Puppies develop life skills and trust in their owners. Avoid unwanted behaviors such as jumping, pulling and barking, by starting your puppy’s training immediately. Our puppies also learn to stay, come when called and “leave it”. Our gentle methods are effective with puppies as young as 8 weeks old.
1st week is without your puppy – Your attendance is mandatory for this class

Basic training for dogs 5 months and older and also for graduates of our Puppy Playschool. Large breeds may join at an earlier age.
Life skills and essential manners such as coming when called, not pulling on the leash and not jumping on people. Practical and effective training to make your dog a well-behaved member of your family.

These classes are intended to help dogs that react negatively towards other dogs, but are accepting of people. The goal is for the dogs to learn to trust and focus on their handlers, and be able to function calmly in situations involving other dogs and people.
Prerequisite: Must have had at least one private consultation with a Blue Ribbon trainer who has approved the team for this class.
Duration: 5 classes 50 min. each class: 1 virtual class + 4 classes at the centre over 8 weeks (1 every 2 weeks)
Maximum: 4 teams
Instructors: Lise Hargrave + 4 trainers on the floor (1 per team)

Note: The first class will be a virtual orientation (via Zoom) and owners will be familiarized with the aims, methods and requirements of the class.

SPORTS CLASSES
Introduction to this fun sport done with focus on both technique and safety. Teams (handler AND dog) must have completed Companion Rookie and Companion Pro at Blue Ribbon.
NOTE: All agility students are required to help with the setup and take-down of equipment.

Intro to Obedience
For teams (both handler and dog) that have graduated from our Companion Pro class. To prepare for CKC Obedience Competition and to perfect previously learned behaviours and teach new ones such as retrieving, jumping on cue and scent discrimination. You can train for fun or to prepare for competition, it’s up to you!

You will learn how to teach your dog specific tricks, and also how to break down complicated tricks into specific parts, and put those parts together to complete the trick. You will also have the option to get a title (and a certificate!) for you and your dog.
